Lutheran Memorial Church, design submission only (90)

1226 Vermont Avenue, NW (Thomas Circle)
1866/67

Cluss's account for July 1, 1866 shows an "unpaid and unsettled account against J.R. Elvans and eventually by work done towards [Lutheran] Memorial Church". Also, Cluss made a drawing of the proposed Lutheran Memorial Church at that time. But obviously, he did not get the commission. Lutheran Memorial Church was finally built in 1870-73 by architect Judson York.

In the same year 1866, Cluss designed a Residence for John R. Elvans (see No. 68).
