Marine Corps Barracks (85)

Eighth Street, SE
1867

Cluss's accounts for July 1, 1867 show three design submissions. One for the new War Department was rejected. A second, the extension of the Seaton House, was accepted. Records of the third, the Marine Corps Barracks, near the Navy Yard in Southeast Washington, have not been found. At the Navy Yard, Cluss had already designed the New Ordnance Foundry, and Powder Magazines.
