Walter Davidge Residence

Walter Davidge Residence (48)

Southeast corner of 17th and H Streets, NW
Constructed in 1880, demolished 1942

When he contracted with Cluss and Schulze to design this house, Walter Davidge had been a prominent attorney in Washington since 1842. In 1870, Cluss employed Davidge as his attorney when Josef Wildrich von Kammerhueber's widow sued Cluss, claiming that Cluss had underpaid her husband prior to his leaving the firm.
